Toddler Bed FurnitureAdvertisements
Furniture for a toddler to sleep in can assume many forms. The typical styles are the standard toddler bed, storage toddler bed, car toddler bed, sleigh toddler bed, day bed style for toddlers and the princess toddler bed. All of this furniture will use a standard crib mattress and are considered suitable for kids from 18 months to about 5 years. Fifty pounds is the recommended weight limit. The advantage to the standard crib mattress is that a baby typically does not wear out a mattress with normal use and the parents can get more usage out of it by recycling it in their toddler bed before the mattress ends up in some landfill. A typical feature of this juvenile furniture will be built-in protective side rails that start at the head of the bed and enclose about the top third of the bed. This is to prevent dangerous roll-outs in a child's sleep. Also the toddler bed will be lower to the floor to prevent injury from falls. Your toddler child is no longer a baby, but everyone in your home will rest easier at night with these safety measures. The standard toddler furniture will look like a miniature adult twin size. Typically the frame is craft out of wood with a conventional-looking headboard and foot with the side rails as slats or solid panels. The storage toddler bed may look very much like a standard bed, but has the extra feature of a drawer under the mattress. The drawer is usually separated in two compartments. A drawer under the sleeping platform is very handy if you had the same feature in the crib you are replacing. The toddler sleigh bed is also a miniature version of the adult furniture of the same style. It looks very classy and is preferred by parents who like to buy something that looks like real furniture. The toddler day bed also looks like a miniature of the adult day furnishing with the addition of a protective rail that covers at least half of the open side. For the very active sleeping child, this style would afford the most protection from roll-outs since the bed is completely enclosed on three sides and half of the fourth. All the above styles of beds are available in many types of wood finishes, so they will go well with dresser drawers, side tables or any other furniture you may already own. The princess toddler bed and the car toddler bed are furnishings that are like something out of children's dream. Some are crafted out of wood and some are made from molded PVC plastic with steel supports. The princess style is nearly always pink with decorative princess-type designs painted on it. Disney princess toddler beds are especially popular that have trademarked images of Cinderella, Belle, Sleeping Beauty or other Disney princesses on the furniture. Sometimes the bed posts are extra tall and some pieces of furniture will have a canopy. The car bed is shaped to look like a race car and usually comes in the color red, with decorative touches such as racing stripes and a number. Similar to the car bed for your little guy or racing gal, there are also fire truck and bulldozer beds and other things on wheels. These kinds of beds are great for encouraging a child to use their imaginations; they will have fun "driving" themselves around the racetrack or being the Sleeping Beauty of their dreams. In addition to the place to sleep itself there are certain peripheral bedroom furniture pieces you may want to consider adding to your child's bedroom. You can buy matching toy boxes, shelves for books and side tables. Sometimes there is also a play table set with chairs that is fun for snack time or coloring art time. Matching dressers make a special set complete. For the princess toddler theme you can also find matching vanity tables with mirror and stool. Have you considered adding cute child-themed light fixtures, switch plates and ceiling fans? Of course, you will also need a toddler bedding set to complete the look. This includes matching fitted and flat sheets, a pillow case and sometimes a comforter or bed spread. Boys would love a pirates at sea sheet set to bunk down in. To keep the colors of these fabrics their brightest, wash in coolest water allowable. With this combination of furniture and linens your child will be eager to hop under the covers at night. When shopping for your own child or as a gift for a grandchild, consider the internet a source of information for comparing products between stores or for finding those deals not to be had in stores. When finding the best deals, be sure to take into account the added cost of shipping. |
